Information
Las Mercedes Winemaker Christian Sepúlveda has single-handedly forced little old Las Bodegas to reconsider Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon fundamentally.
This isn’t just good, this is bloody brilliant. There is fabulous concentration here, and a beautiful silkiness of texture, but best of all an under-stated quality that leads to elegance and the urge to ask for a second glass.
Premium drinkability, no over-extraction, no posh oak sticking its head above the parapet, not a jam jar in sight.
There is a feint nod to top-end Bordeaux in the purity of the cassis aroma but this wine is clearly, proudly from Chile. We are converted!
