Towards the end of 2014, we asked Susana Balbo if she would make us a premium Chardonnay; we're very glad we did!
This represents the very pinnacle of the new wave of whites coming through; expressive, yes, but lean and elegant with an almost European sensibility and a ripeness that is tamed rather than teased out.
Dare we say it this Chardonnay is almost Chablisienne, Grand Cru mind! The fruit is high altitude Uco Valley, from Los Arboles, the oak is 100% low toast new French, and after fermentation the wine spends just 4 months in barrel, the final result being subtlety itself. Beautiful.
“This is really excellent with salt, dried fruit and creamy character. Full body, tight and polished texture. Long and flavourful finish”

"You don't notice the 100% malolactic fermentation here, such is the freshness of the acidity. The oak is nicely understated, too, allowing the mineral-edged citrus fruit to express itself. Despite the comparatively high alcohol, it's a very modern style of Chardonnay that nods towards the Old World."
