Information
With the two Sin Límites (without limits) Malbec wines, winemaker Edy Del Popolo presents us with a masterclass in terroir.
Edy is a famous viticulturist who understands as well as anyone in Argentina how the particulars of soil, aspect, micro-climate and, perhaps most vital here – altitude – all play important roles in bringing together a singular expression of terroir.
Both wines are fermented in concrete eggs with skin contact for 25 days and are then transferred into second and third use French oak for 12 months prior to release.
This wine, from the cherished Uco enclave of Gualtallary at 1350 metres above sea level, is a pure reflection of the local limestone soils.
Tasting Note
Fresh notes of pink peppercorns and stony aromas greet the nose first, overlaying lovely red berry and pomegranate notes. Relatively austere in texture, with some aeration the wine opens up to reveal something genuinely fine, with a stunning finish redolent of red apples and cranberries.

“New to the Susana Balbo range in 2017 and making quite an impact on its first outing, this comes from a 12-year-old vineyard in the best part of Gualtallary. Fresh, intense and perfumed, with notes of liquorice and black olive, dark blackberry fruit and a chalky, refreshing finish. Bravo!”
