Information
This is a blend of wine aged in amphora and hand-made Austrian Stockinger oak barrels. Amphût’s name is derived from amphora and fût, a French word for cask. It’s made using wild yeasts.
With a warm 2015 growing season, this harvest had a positive brunt on this rich and dense red Malbec. The strike is juicy and plump with dense tannis but refined, giving it a firm structure through the end.
The new vintage from our superb Cahors winemaker, Sebastien Dauliac. Almost black in the glass. A concentrated nose, rich, perfumed and complex, dominant and distinguished aromas leaves you fascinated, it makes you ask yourself whether you actually need to drink to enjoy.
The nose has distinct black fruit aromas and pepper. On the palate, it’s almost unexpectedly alive and vibrant, with real driving acidity. A radical change from the old-fashioned, over-extracted, over-oaked austere wines of the past, and last but not least, what a finish!!!
A superb wine showing what the new Cahors is capable of. Impressive already, and this will continue to improve in the bottle over the next years.
