Information
This is Ventisquero’s ultimate expression of Pinot Noir from a special hill-side vineyard in the Casablanca valley. The grapes are cooled by breezes and fogs that blow in from the Pacific Ocean.
The grapes are harvested by hand and macerated before fermentation in temperature-controlled vessels at low temperature to extract colour and increase the complexity of the wine. All the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (25% new) and for at least another 6 months in bottle at the winery before release.
Tasting Note
The wine shows the classic raspberry and strawberry characteristics of Pinot Noir. It also shows notes of vanilla and baking spices, and a pleasant herbal note. It is medium bodied with good complexity and length. It is best drunk inside of 10 years from the vintage.
Deep ruby red in colour, the nose initially reveals fragrant aromas of tart red fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries, true to the classic profile of this noble variety.
On the palate juicy red concentrated fruit flavours and ripe round tannins are framed by a distinctive yet delicate backdrop of French oak.
The result is a wine with refined aromas and flavours that seduce with every sip of the glass.
